Partnerships to Address Violence In Our Community

Helping our community heal and keeping them safe is a hugely important value at St. Joe’s. Working alongside community organizations, our team is addressing the issues that pose the greatest challenges to the health of our community. Our SAFE (Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner) program is a comprehensive violence program that is designed to offer the best support and care for victims of violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

Together, with our vital partnerships Partners for Peace and Penquis, our dedicated team of SAFE nurses are raising awareness of domestic violence and human trafficking.  They do vital outreach, speaking to community groups and schools to establish best practices, and train police and ambulance services on how to spot the signs of abuse and trafficking. Partnering with these critical community members and organizations, along with the district attorney’s office, our SAFE nurses are working hard to help heal our community and ensure sexual assault victims get the support and care they need.
