This month, we welcomed Alice Hildebrand to our Pastoral Care team. She will be serving as a Chaplain and providing an essential piece to the holistic care we strive to offer patients.
Alice comes to us with years of experience. She graduated from Bangor Theological Seminary in 1987, and is an ordained United Church of Christ minister. Through the years, she has held several pastoral roles including Associate Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Blue Hill, UCC, and the Pastor of the Deer Isle/Sunset Congregational Church, UCC. She is currently the part-time Pastor of the Brooksville Congregational Church, UCC.
In addition, Alice is Board Certified through the Association of Professional Chaplains. She completed her Residency as a Chaplain at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT, specializing in Pediatrics and Neurotrauma. She was also the Chaplain for Hancock County Home Care and Hospice in Blue Hill for five years and served as Chaplain for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center for six years. Her breadth of experience allows her to adjust to the everchanging pace and stay light on her feet as she pivots to patient needs.
Veronica Marchese, VP of Mission for St. Joe’s shared, “I’m very excited to have Alice join our team in supporting our patients and staff! Her education, experience and life’s work are deeply aligned with our mission and values. I look forward to working with Alice as we support the pastoral and spiritual care needs of our community.”
Compassion and commitment to patient-centered care runs in the Hildebrand family! Alice is known as “mom” to Dr. James Hildebrand, a well-loved physician in our Emergency Department.
