Veggie Time
It’s that time of year—the Community Vegetable Exchange Stand is now open! This program is designed to provide community members with access to fresh fruits and vegetables free of charge.
Veggies are provided by home gardeners who donate their surplus crops. Home gardeners—it’s not too late to plant an extra row! In addition, the Good Shepherd Food Bank provides fresh produce on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Stand is open 7 days a week throughout the growing season. All donations can be placed on the Stand which is located outside the Broadway Lobby entrance. All in need are welcome to help themselves!
We thank all the hearts, hands, and green thumbs that go into making the Stand possible. Renée Peterson, Interim Mission Integration Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, is one of the hearts behind this effort. She adds, “I love educating people about the Community Vegetable Exchange Stand because it is such a unique program. It is one of the many examples of our approach to holistic health care.”
