Making the Move to Maine

The following blog post submitted by Lisa Cramm. Lisa is System Manager, Talent Acquisition & Provider Recruitment at Covenant Health, her husband Paul is a nurse practitioner at St. Joseph Internal Medicine.

In 2008, my husband Paul and I relocated our family to Bangor for work.  Although we had never been to Bangor before, we were looking to move to the closest city near the eastern Canadian border (my husband and I are both from east coast Canada).  Twelve years have passed since then and    Bangor has not disappointed us!

Bangor has the best of both worlds: a small downtown city feel AND an abundance of natural outdoor living, all within a 10/15 minute drive.  Add to that, a fantastic school system with multiple educational choices for your kids.  Bangor also has many dining options to choose from and activities that range from sporting events to fine arts…you’ll never be bored living in Bangor!

Our family loves the outdoors.  We have endless options of activities regardless of which season it is.  We love kayaking, swimming, biking and hiking in the summer and snowshoeing, skating, and skiing (and hockey of course) in the winter.  I am a year-round runner and feel absolutely safe to go for an early or late evening run in any part of the city.

The cherry on top is working for the best employer in town!  Both my husband and I are employees of St. Joseph’s Hospital/Covenant Health and we could not be happier.  They are caring, compassionate and support our careers that allow us to maintain a healthy work /life balance (so that we have time to enjoy all that Bangor has to offer)!

Bangor is definitely the place to be to have a successful and professional career while maintaining a healthy lifestyle that everyone in your family can enjoy! Come check it out!!
